ECL mentions that he had two grandsons still alive in Middleboro in 1893. Fanny Leonard Koster lists the same children on Chart 4, except that she calls Zebedee Babidee, as does Standing's table of descent. He served several enlistments as private and, in 1776, as sergeant in Capt. William Tupper's 6th company, Colonel Sproutt's regiment. DAR # 67046. He may have been the Benjamin Leonard who, in 1796, bought the "New Forge" on the Nemasket River, originally built about 1762 and destroyed by fire in 1785. Partnership included George Leonard (Benjamin's brother?), Abiel Washburn, and Abner Bourne. (Weston, p. 288.) Another source lists date of marriage as December 11, 1770.
