Nathaniel LEONARD358 was born on 7 March 1717 in Taunton, Bristol Co., MA.359 He died on 12 August 1766 at the age of 49 in Canton, Norfolk Co., MA. Nathaniel lived in that part of Stoughton known as "The Hardware District." He erected the first milestone in the town, just north of Massapoag Brook where Washington Street crosses a few rods from the original resting place of General Gridley. He was in Col. Miller's Regt. in Old French War. (from History of Westmoreland, NH). He was baptized in Norton May 1717. The Suffolk County records mention him as a "gentleman" on February 22, 1772, in the settlement of his estate. The Musical Society of Canton records note that Nathaniel and his brother, Walley, bought quite a bit of land in Canton and built the second iron works, called "London New," about 1740. Lt. Nathaniel LEONARD and Mary SHEPARD were married on 26 January 1743 in Stoughton, Norfolk Co., MA. Mary SHEPARD, daughter of John SHEPARD and Rebecca FENNO, was born on 4 August 1725 in MIlton, Norfolk Co., MA. She died on 14 June 1764 at the age of 38 in Canton, Norfolk Co., MA. She was buried in Gridley Graveyard, near Kinsley Place, Canton, MA. She died of small pox, along with her newborn babe. Lt. Nathaniel LEONARD and Mary SHEPARD had the following children:

Jerusha Wentworth FENNO, daughter of John SHEPARD and Rebecca FENNO, was born on 4 June 1734 in Stoughton, Norfolk Co., MA.
