95. Philip LEONARD152,159,160 was born on 14 August 1705 in Raynham, Bristol Co., MA. He died on 11 March 1788 at the age of 82 in Raynham, Bristol Co., MA.161 Church of Christ records also. He went to Maine to live.
According to New England Families, Historical and Genealogical, Vol. 3, p. 1343, Philip Leonard's will, dated June 12, 1782, bequeathed his personal estate to his wife, Lydia. After her death, the property was to be divided in five equal parts, a fifth to go to his daughter Judith and her heirs, a fifth to daughter Lydia, another to daughter Esther, and the last to daughter Tabitha. The son, David, received real estate and was named executor. (Also Book 30, page 1)
Philip LEONARD and Lydia CHASE were married on 4 May 1741 in Raynham, Bristol Co., MA.134 Lydia CHASE162, daughter of William CHASE and Dorcas BAKER, was born on 27 March 1716 in Sidney, Kennebec Co., ME.163 She died on 14 December 1794 at the age of 78 in Raynham, Bristol Co., MA.164
Philip LEONARD and Lydia CHASE had the following children:
Philip LEONARD Jr.47,165 was born on 14 August 1743 in Raynham, Bristol Co., MA.166 He died on 16 January 1774 at the age of 30 in Raynham, Bristol Co., MA.167 ECL: He was unmarried. He and Lydia were born too close together (August and January), but that's the way it is in the VR's of Raynham by Margaret Harris Stover, 1997. ECL has him born in 1748.
Lydia LEONARD47 was born on 12 January 1744 in Raynham, Bristol Co., MA.166 She died after 1782 at the age of 38. Note that we have two Lydia Leonards marrying David Brittons in this data base, the other being a daughter of Uriah and Elizabeth Farley. Same children. Something's amiss! Lydia was baptized by Rev. John Wales in the Raynham Church of Christ March 24, 1745. One clue: Lydia mentioned in father Philip's will as receiving one-fifth of his personal estate, will dated June 12, 1782. So it wouldn't have been Philip's daughter who died in 1775, causing David to remarry.
Reuben LEONARD47,168 was born on 21 June 1749 in Raynham, Bristol Co., MA.166 He died on 4 January 1754 at the age of 4 in Raynham, Bristol Co., MA.
Esther LEONARD was born (date unknown). She was not mentioned by ECL, but she is mentioned in Philip's will.
