The Artemas, son of Seth, was a gunmaker. This Artemas Leonard, born in 1783, lived in Raynham. He moved to Hallowell, ME, in 1810. At the time of his marriage, he was a trader in Livermore, ME. He was later President of the Central Bank, Hallowell, ME. There were three Maine Supreme Judicial Court cases involving Artemus. The 1820 Census indicates he may have had a wife and 2 or 3 children (or perhaps just someone living in the same household). In the 1850 he was living with daughter Caroline in Hallowell. Artemas LEONARD and Betsey COOLIDGE were married on 13 August 1807 in Livermore, Androscoggin Co., ME. Betsey COOLIDGE, daughter of Thomas COOLIDGE and Lucy WYETH, was born on 24 May 1788. She died on 25 October 1847 at the age of 59. Artemas LEONARD and Betsey COOLIDGE had the following children:
