1951. Joseph O. LEONARD¹⁹⁶⁰ was born on 11 August 1817 in Smyrna, Chenango Co., NY. In 1846–1858 he was a Postmaster in Union City, Michigan. In 1852 he was a State Senator in Branch Co., MI. Joseph died on 28 November 1893 at the age of 76 in Union City, Branch Co., Michigan. Resided at: Bef 1846 until 1893 in Union City, Branch Co., Michigan. In the 1850 Census, they were living in Union, Branch Co., MI. He was a shoemaker. He was a prominent merchant and a state senator in 1853. In the 1870 Census, his occupation was listed as miscellaneous. His brother, James T., was living with them, a merchant of dry goods. He left a widow and 3 children.
