31. William Henry LEONARD was born in 1840 in NY. He died on 22 March 1892 at the age of 52 in Batavia, Genessee Co., NY. Henry enlisted 23 Feb 1863 in LeRoy, NY. He was withthe heavy artillery. He mustered into the 129th NY Infantry. The 129th was transferred to heavy artillery in Dec 1862 and was then reclassified as the 8th NY Voluntary Artillery. He was mustered out at Burkesville, VA, on 30 Apr 1865 with a disability discharge. He applied for a disability pension 19 Jul 1865 (application no. 78542). After the Civil War, he went west as far as Wisconsin, later turning back to family in Ohio, and finally back to Batavia, NY.

When his father died in 1874, he was living in Rochester, NY.

Henry is listed as a foundryman in the 1870 Census. The family is living in Green Bay, Brown Co., WI, in the 1870 Census. Henry is listed as an iron moulder in the 1880 Census. The family is living in Batavia, Genesee Co., NY, in 1880. All of the children who had been born were alive in the 1880 Census.
